Ambassador Program

Overview

At The Cannon Institute, we are dedicated to excellence in sex and gender therapy. The Ambassador Program honors clinicians from within The Cannon Institute who share our core values and have done exceptional work with us over time. While each Ambassador brings their own style and approach, all embody our commitment to advance the field and serve the community.

A Pathway to Leadership

Many of our Ambassadors began their journey with The Cannon Institute as practicum students or interns. As a trusted intern site for the leading clinical training programs in Colorado, we are able to select from a large and diverse pool of applicants who are actively pursuing a career in sex therapy.

We are looking for the best of the best. We seek future clinicians who share our values and demonstrate a deep commitment to kindness, compassion, and excellence. Ethical integrity is essential. We also look for what Dr. Cannon describes as an “aptitude for sex therapy”—a quality that can be nurtured, but not taught.

The most promising practicum students are invited into a one-year internship. From there, we offer full-time positions to select interns, and support them as they pursue licensure and AASECT certification. Once licensed and certified, a small number are invited to become Ambassadors. While not all Ambassadors follow this exact path, most have demonstrated long-term commitment, clinical excellence, and deep alignment with our values.

Selection Process

Ambassadors are selected through a thoughtful review by The Cannon Institute’s leadership team. Therapists may express interest directly or be nominated by peers. Selection is based on clinical excellence, alignment with our values, a demonstrated history of contribution to The Cannon Institute, and readiness to lead within our professional community.
