Treatment for Erectile Difficulties & Premature Issues
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and Premature Ejaculation (PE) affect many men and their partners in ways that can cause great distress. These conditions can result from physical causes, as well as psychological factors. That is where sex therapy can help. You don’t have to go through this alone!
Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) describes difficulty acquiring or maintaining an erection. Erectile dysfunction is the most common sex problem that men report to their doctor. ED can be caused by many things. Our therapists use Dr. Cannon’s Checklist Theory© to determine these causes and begin a treatment plan since we know you are looking for results fast!
The Cannon Institute Treatment Plan
Our process starts with a free, 20-minute consultation where we can discuss your concerns. On that call, we will collaborate with you to determine the best therapist for you. We utilize Dr. Cannon’s Checklist Theory© to enable a full and complete assessment, which will lead us to the best course of treatment for you. We work with the best urologists in the state and help you add them to your care team when needed.
Erectile Dysfunction Left Untreated:
In addition to physical causes, PE and ED have psychological causes including:
- Low self-esteem or body confidence
- Experience of sexual abuse
- Anxiety about sexual performance
While neither one is uncommon, men might feel like these conditions are abnormal because they don’t align with the social expectations of male virility. They can cause (or reinforce) feelings of sexual inadequacy, reduce self-confidence, and put stress on a relationship. Both physical and psychological factors play a role in these conditions. Treatment can include medication (ointments, blood flow stimulants, antidepressants), as well as therapy.
About Cannon Institute
Dr. Neil Cannon has been treating penis owners through sex therapy since 2006. Dr. Cannon has created a comprehensive Checklist process for sex therapy that provides a complete pathway for each therapist to utilize in their plan of care. It helps to quickly identify core issues while developing a plan for sustainable growth.
Starting Your Process of Healing
For many people, the best path to healing includes individual counseling for each person involved, as well as couples counseling. In some cases, urology, endocrinology, psychiatry and/or medication management may also be needed. At the first session, we can start to determine what you need to treat premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease, or any other sexual dysfunction.
Sex Therapy can help you explore the stress and anxiety that may be causing the disconnect; it can give you space to reconsider your self-image and sexual needs with more care and kindness. If PE or ED is affecting your relationship, therapy can also provide a safe environment to talk with your partner(s). That conversation can be hard to do alone!
